[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] I’m not much of a perfume person and I don’t like ‘outside’ fragrances but I’m afraid I had low hopes for Avon’s Far Away Beyond The Moon. I don’t know anything about Avon’s current perfumes so I was excited to give it a try. I made a ‘first look’ video on Instagram with hints of vanilla and jasmine that aren’t too far from the real notes.
It seems that Beyond The Moon is a list of fragrances, and Beyond The Moon refers to the flower of the night, Belle de Nuit, which I thought would be jasmine, which also blooms at night. It seems that Belle de Nuit has the same theme and taste. I can detect the sandalwood finish in Beyond The Moon although the wild cherry opener was lost on me. Now that I know what it is, I *think* I can smell or produce fruit. I still swear there is vanilla in the mix. The Belle de Nuit plant is delightful – according to the garden’s website, its best time to smell it is between 4pm and 8pm. It is also known as Mirablis Jalapa or Four O’Clock Flower and is native to South America. Every day is a school day!
Bearing in mind this is a £16 fragrance with a beautiful bottle and design, I think it’s well worth it. The smell lasted most of the day (I was generous in my work – in money, in pounds) although it softened a lot as time went on, leaving a trail that felt like holidays and cold evenings in the garden. It doesn’t have the longevity or power of more expensive perfumes but I would say that if you just want a fun everyday floral it will hit the spot. I didn’t know Superdrug stocked Avon HERE, but that’s where you’ll find it!
