Two weeks after leaving with Alex, my kids are back home in Brooklyn! As soon as they walked in the door, they both started talking to me at the same time, which I really like. We also went on a Target run to get “the first day of school drip,” as Anton called it, as well as pencil sharpeners and apple-cider-scented body wash.
Have you ever seen Dreaming While Black? I missed the British comedy when it came out in 2021, and I’m glad I came across it. The six-episode series follows Kwabena, a young British Nigerian who wants to be a film producer but feels stuck in the recruitment industry. It’s funny and funny and shows the kind of brutality they face every day. I finished the whole season in one day and I’m looking forward to the second season.
We have a bunch of fruit in the fridge – plums, grapes, apples – and I’m thinking of making a monochromatic red fruit salad, maybe with vanilla ice cream. Have you made anything delicious lately?
I lost my beloved rain jacket while in Seattle (fist shake!!), but thankfully the Rains jacket collection is on sale right now. Raincoats can feel heavy and sweaty, but these are lightweight and great for walking. The pale blue is beautiful, and I love the chic belt and the waterproof belt bag, gahhh!
What are you doing these days? Happy back to school season for those celebrating!
PS Lots of fun stuff, and five funny pictures that make us laugh.
