[unpaid/sample] A few surprises for me with this brand – especially that it was founded by Tajinder Banwait who I have known since 2012. In fact, his other brand, Urban Apothecary first appeared on this site in 2012, looks very different from what it does now. From that (initially) small candle, Urban Apothecary has grown into a perfume brand and Tajinder has been awarded an MBE for services to Business and The Beauty Industry. So, with a full plate already, you’ve found time to introduce Palette – a nail polish brand.
The next surprise is that the paint bottles are £8 each. In comparison, the Colors are £6.40 for 5ml – the Palette colors are 11ml. It’s not unusual for nail polish to be made from other materials such as wood pulp, potatoes and even wheat but it’s just getting started. Some nail polishes may not be natural or they may just melt your nails but we’ve come a long way since car paint was good.
Of course, you’ll also find a base coat, top coat – pearl, matte or holographic – and nail polish. There’s a wide variety – I love the Tropical collection – but not so many that you won’t know where to start (I’m looking, Nails Inc). For some, the bobble handle can be a bit difficult to hold – I found it fine (and the brush applied the paint nicely and evenly) but I’m used to doing my nails. I like the look of them – again, a little too deep which is where Tajinder’s opening seems to be – not that I want to look at those nice white heads :-).
The shades I currently have are Dragon Fruit and Vermillion Poppy. You can find Palette London HERE.
